Improving Services for Imprisoned Women with Severe Mental Illness (IP-SIS): Film

This film was developed as part of the NIHR RfPB-funded Improving Services for Imprisoned Women with Severe Mental Illness (IP-SIS) study and in collaboration with our Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG). The study explored the experiences of women with severe mental illness in prison, including their access to physical and mental healthcare services and the barriers they faced in receiving support. The film highlights the importance of understanding the health needs of women in prison, addressing inequalities in care, and developing services that are culturally and racially sensitive.

Working in partnership with our Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG), and building on our wider programme of work to improve patient and public involvement and engagement with imprisoned women with severe mental illness, the project aimed to inform improvements in primary healthcare services for women in prison and on release into the community.
