Improving PPIE with Imprisoned Women with Severe Mental Illness

This short film was developed as part of the NIHR Three Schools Mental Health Programme project Improving Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement with Imprisoned Women with Severe Mental Illness.

The project explored how women with severe mental illness who had experience of the criminal justice system could be meaningfully involved in research. The film highlighted the importance of lived experience, co-production, and partnership working, and showcased approaches to improving involvement and engagement in health and justice research.
